CCPL announces re-opening on July 6

CCPL announces re-opening on July 6

Release date: 6/23/2020

The Library will expand curbside pick-up to all branches starting June 29

Parma, OH – June 22, 2020 – Cuyahoga County Public Library (CCPL) is pleased to announce that its buildings will re-open for public access starting Monday, July 6. This development is the next phase in the re-opening plan that Executive Director Tracy Strobel unveiled in May.

“We are looking forward to entering this next phase of the Library’s re-opening plan. With the introduction of drive-through and curbside service earlier this month, we have carefully developed new procedures to keep our staff and customers safe. We know that many in our community rely on the Library for access to computers, high-speed broadband and information resources. It is critical that we make those resources available,” stated Strobel.
Prior to the branch re-openings on July 6, the Library will expand curbside service to 14 additional locations. All 27 CCPL branches will offer either drive-through window or curbside service starting June 29. This will help Library staff complete distribution of the 40,000+ items that were placed on hold while CCPL was closed to the public.

When the branches re-open, building capacity will be limited to approximately 25 percent. Meeting rooms and audio recording studios will remain closed, but the Library’s three Innovation Centers, printer/copier/fax machines, and public computers will be available for use.

“The Library will look a little different when our customers return,” says Strobel. “All staff are required to wear masks to protect one another and our customers, and we strongly encourage our customers to wear them when visiting the Library. Furniture throughout the branches has been modified to promote physical distancing. We are also increasing our standard cleaning schedule to more frequently wipe down high-touch areas, and we will continue to quarantine returned items for 72 hours.”
The Library will be open Monday through Thursday, 9:00 a.m. am to 9:00 p.m.,  and Friday and Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. The first hour of each day (9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.) will be reserved for vulnerable/high-risk populations. While masks are not required to enter Library buildings, customers who need help using public computer stations or any assistance that cannot be done with six feet of physical distancing will be required to wear a mask.
