Six-time NBA champ will discuss his new book Becoming Kareem on June 7th in the KeyBank State Theatre at Playhouse Square
 

National Basketball Association (NBA) legend Kareem Abdul-Jabbar will visit the KeyBank State Theatre at Playhouse Square on Thursday, June 7, 2018 at 7:30 p.m. to discuss and sign copies of his new book, Becoming Kareem: Growing Up On and Off the Court. This event is made possible by Cuyahoga County Public Library (CCPL) in partnership with the Cleveland State University (CSU) Arts & Humanities Alive (AHA!) Festival. Kareem is the NBA’s all-time leading scorer and a six-time NBA champion with the Milwaukee Bucks and Los Angeles Lakers. In 1996, he was named one of the 50 greatest players in NBA history. Off the court, Kareem is an accomplished author whose books include What Color Is My World? The Lost History of African American Inventors (2012), the best-seller Writings on the Wall: Searching for a New Equality Beyond Black and White (2016), and the best-seller Coach Wooden and Me: Our 50-Year Friendship On and Off the Court (2017). His latest book, Becoming Kareem, is an autobiographical account of his tumultuous spiritual and athletic journey from childhood through college and his first year in the NBA.
